13 Days of Halloween!

Halloween is almost upon us, and we are so excited. Halloween is iconic, from the candy to the costumes, but nothing is as iconic as the movies we watch to get us in the spirit of the season. You can never go wrong with watching a scary movie on a scary day. We have 13 days till Halloween, so here is a list of 13 Iconic movies to watch this Halloween! 13 days, 13 movies.

These movies range from PG – R for violence, language, and gore, so please watch at your own discretion!

1. Halloween (1978)

To start us off, let’s start with an iconic Halloween film. The slasher movie stars Jamie Lee Curtis and follows a mental patient and murderer Michael Myers, who escapes a sanitarium and returns to his hometown to stalk innocent passersby. This scary horror film is a staple of the season, and is definitely worth the watch this season. Available to rent for $3.99

2. CORALINE (2009)

Though Coraline isn’t exactly a “halloween movie”, it’s still spooky enough to warrant a watch every Halloween. The film stars Dakota Fanning as Coraline as she explores her new apartment and discovers a door to a perfect version of her world. Blue hair, Buttons, and Bugs, Coraline is a great movie to watch this Halloween season. Available to rent for $3.99

3. It: chapter one (2017)

IT: Chapter One follows a group of 12-year-olds in the fictional town of Derry, Maine being haunted by a killer clown named Pennywise. If you weren’t scared of clowns before, you will be after this terrifying cult-classic. IT: Chapter One is an intense horror movie, and is becoming a new and staple of the season. 4. SCREAM (1996)

A fright-masked knife maniac stalks high-school students in middle-class suburbia, but the victims are not always the ones you expect. This horror/black comedy movie has been become a fan favorite over the years, and has reached cult classic level status. This film stars a variety of big stars, from Courtney Cox to Drew Barrymore, and is an essential watch this season. Available to rent for $3.99

5. Halloweentown (1998)

13-year-old Marnie Piper and her younger siblings Dylan and Sophie discover they have magical powers, and journey to a magical place called Halloweentown where their mother and grandmother are from. Marnie, Dylan, and Sophie must help their grandmother Aggie Cromwell defeat a dark force that threatens to take over Halloweentown. Halloweentown is an iconic Disney Channel classic, and is an essential Halloween pick to watch this year. Available to watch on Disney+

6. hocus pocus (1993)

When it comes to Halloween, nothing says iconic like Hocus Pocus. The family-friendly comedy stars stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy star as three witches from Salem, brought back from the dead by a young boy named Max on Halloween night. Watch this iconic movie this Halloween season. Available to watch on Disney+


In 1971, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. Watch this horrifying film this Halloween season. Available to watch on HBO Max


This double holiday feature is heavily debated as either being a Christmas film or a Halloween film, but for the sake of our list it’ll be considered a Halloween movie. The Nightmare Before Christmas is about Jack Skellington who becomes bored of Halloween and tries something new, and attempts to make Christmas, Halloweentown style. Available on Disney+

9. THE Shining (1980)

This horror classic is so scary, I don’t even want to describe it to you, but I will. A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future. Watch The Shining this Halloween season if you’re brave enough. Available to watch on HBO Max

10. A quiet place (2018)

If they hear you, they hunt you. A family must live in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. Knowing that even the slightest whisper or footstep can bring death, Evelyn and Lee are determined to find a way to protect their children while desperately searching for a way to fight back. 11. ZOMBIELAND (2009)

After a virus turns most people into zombies, the world’s surviving humans remain locked in an ongoing battle against the hungry undead. Four survivors — Tallahassee and his cohorts Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock — abide by a list of survival rules and zombie-killing strategies as they make their way toward a rumored safe haven in Los Angeles. 12. Paranorman (2012)

An underrated classic, that has become essential for spooky season. Norman can speak to the dead, but when zombies rise from the dead, it is up to Norman and his friends to save the townspeople. This cult classic is slowly becoming a Halloween essential, and is worth the watch. Available to watch on Netflix

13. Friday the 13th (1980)

What better way to end the list than with Friday The 13th. A group of camp counselors are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen a summer camp which was the site of a child’s drowning and a grisly double murder years before. Watch this horrifying Halloween classic, if you dare. Available for free on Peacock
