School, work, and extracurriculars. They’re all tough to juggle and sometimes you just need a break, we get it! It’s important to not forget about self care. November 6th is National Stress Awareness Day and we have created a list of 5 self care tips we find helpful!
1. Take Some Alone Time
There is a lot of socializing in college. You’re in a new place with new people, maybe some familiar faces, but you’re talking and hanging out. It can get tiring, so make sure to take some time to be by yourself. Use this time to recharge, reflect, and do the things you need to do to take care of yourself.
2. Do Something Creative
Doing something creative can give you a break from things. It can help take your mind off things or it can give you time to reflect on things. By doing something creative. It helps release tension and stress. Ultimately, it should just be a fun activity and something you enjoy.
3. Go Tech Free
Maybe it’s for a day, maybe for an hour, just go tech free. We basically use technology for everything and we use it constantly, and too much can be a bad thing. We focus too much on our next post, or other people are posting, on social media and that can actually cause you to not sleep as well as induce stress. So, go tech free and try to connect to those around you.
4. Take One Day To Wake Up Without Alarms
Listen, we know if you could you would! Not only are alarms stressful, but they can also be kind of terrifying to wake up to. But really, if you’re waking up to an alarm everyday, it means you’re not getting enough sleep. Take that free time you have to get your work done and out of the way so that night you can go to sleep earlier and sleep as much as you need to, without an alarm.
5. Get A Planner
This one might not be as obvious self care as the other tips mentioned, but planners are like actually incredible. Having a planner takes the stress off of you for remembering everything. You don’t have to worry if you forgot a due date, you can get an overview of your entire day, and even keep track of non school related things like your grocery list, because you wrote it all down. You can even plan out when you’re going to have a self care day!
