Our University Union was built decades ago when the student population was a mere 17,000, although at that time all the areas satisfied students needed now it requires some updates. Today, our student population has increased and is approximately double what it was then. We need new areas to satisfy the evolving needs of all students. In the next few blogs, we will focus on what areas need changes and how we can improve them.
One of the most important changes is the need for: Study Areas
The current union doesn’t have designated quite areas or rooms where students can study. We have the One O’Clock Lounge, Syndicate and the Campus Chat but those areas are typically filled with students who are socializing during breaks. Sometimes, there is music in the One O’Clock which makes it difficult for students to focus. We need areas specifically for studying for students who prefer rooms versus libraries. Union officials are looking at the different options available.
Do you have any ideas for how to improve this?
